I have owned and operated my business from this address for 25 years now, and we have always had "The Old Woman in Purple", as our theme.


In the old days, PURPLE, was considered a menopause color, and so many women wouldn't wear it. Now, it is the # one color in the US, and has been for the last 15 years. I always say, it's because, us OLDIES, have lived long enough to make it the favorite color.


My porcelain grandma doll even has purple contacts. Of course she's never been for sale, and has a special place in our Old Woman section.

The first year I opened my shop, I had High Tea for Jenny Joseph, the author of When I am an Old Woman. She was in Orange County signing her books. I returned to my shop with signed copies of her book, and card.


My business has grown since then to include shirts, tapes, magnets, books, cards, almost anything you can want that has to do with aging. You can read cards that make you laugh, and many that make you cry. I make many of my items, but I have many people that furnish me with their own products. I always add new things to my line, and am always open to suggestions about new things.


7 years ago, I started a PURPLE CLUB, named YOUR PURPLE CONNECTION! Many people just call us THE PURPLE STORE. We have our own shirt, and also offer discounts to members.

The Red Hat Society, is a pretty new thing to you, but we have been celebrating old age for 20 years. I started a chapter of the Red Hats, called The Beach Bags. I traveled with an art circuit for 18 years before I opened my store, and this has become my life.
